Rome
Rome

There is no doubt that Rome is one of the most storied cities in the world; some would argue the best city on the globe. Where else can you walk through the ruins of the greatest civilization in history, admire some of the world’s most beautiful works of art, and sample some of the best cuisine and shopping on the planet… all in one day? The question is not what to do, but what can you do. As they say here, "Roma, non basta una vita,” (Rome, a lifetime is not enough). This city wasn’t built in a day and you weren’t meant to explore it in one. With so much on your plate, the best advice is to settle down and define some goals.

Want culture? You’re in the right place. Regardless of your predisposition or choice along the way, a trip to Vatican City is worth your while. Check out some of the best artistic endeavors made by man in the past few millennia  from that prosperous little era known as the Renaissance. It will probably take all day, as it should, so you’re going to need to recharge. There’s no better way to bring you back to 100% than through some delicious snacks. Keep with the artistic appreciation motif and let a different type of master wow your palate with food & dining that is truly world class.

Looking for pride? There is no better spot to admire the accomplishments of civilization.  It’s going to take a little imagination, but you couldn’t ask for better inspiration than the politics of the Roman Forum or the entertainment of the Coliseum. Give your mind and your feet a break at any one of the outdoor cafes on Piazza Navona... the Pantheon should make for a nice backdrop. This scene is so magnetic – as in the high fashion and people watching – that you could linger over un caffé well past midnight.

But sometimes you just need a little pleasure… did we mention the food? Don’t fill up on the pasta, pizza,or seafood though - you’ve got a long night ahead. Whether a live music performance on the Spanish steps, a rowdy night on the Campo dei Fiori, or a polished drink or two in a plush Roman lounge, this nightlife has big things in store and just might be the best kept secret of Rome.

No matter what your indulgence of choice, there’s more than enough to go around in this notoriously religious city. And the best part is you don’t have to go that far for confession, although once you’re in there it might take a while.
