Have you been tubing in Vang Vieng?
I have heard such ridiculous things about this place... does it really live up to all the hype?
How many days should I allocate for staying there?

It's a love it or hate it kind of place! The one piece of advice I have is don't rent a tube! Everyone grabs a tuk tuk down to the river, and hops from bar to bar..there are plenty of tubes lying about to use and most people just stay at the first three bars in the first place. If you do grab a tube, don't let yourself get caught out there too late, and watch your back for kids flying off the rope swings! The ride should only cost you 10,000kip with a group. After that, it's free whiskey and bananas all day, and a whole lot of drunken debauchery to go with it. Something about it being broad daylight kind of creeped me out, and the fact that the whole town, which is very traditional on the outskirts, has sold its soul to a bunch of drunk backpackers, to be honest...it just wasn't my deal..but you have to go off the trapeze at least once!

I stayed two days, and aside from tubing, the caves are great, and the surrounding mountains are definitely worth a motorbike trip out!
