Barcelona's Most Fashion Forward Hotel
Those of you looking to stay at Chic&basic Born this weekend may have a hard time getting a room. This Saturday, the Born’s stark white walls will look more like a gallery in the MACBA than one of Barca’s hottest boutique hotels. Why? Because Chic&basic Born will be playing host to one of the continent’s hottest new fashion trends, Changing Room.
‘One Day. One Hotel and 25 Designers.’ The self-described mantra of the independent event’s seventh edition should clue you in that this isn't your standard fashion show. Expect a DJ-fueled affair featuring 25 of Berlin’s top designers, each setting up shop in individual rooms of the hotel to show off the latest urban wear… like cutting edge designs meant to heat up this winter and of course, the latest counter culture tees.
But more on that later, onto the venue. Chic&basic born could easily take the honors as 'coolest kid' at this party. Located at the epicenter of Barcelona's trendiest neighborhood, El Born, the hotel sits at the crosswalk of the city's stylish and hip. With musical performances by the record label-slash-band 'Chicks on Speed’ and non-stop beats from the Moritz DJ Set, good vibes are guaranteed to pump throughout the all day event. Word is, the ‘Chicks on Speed’ chicks are even showing off designs they’ve found throughout their travels.
Now, what about those cool tees? An exclusive space will be reserved for the 'More Than a T-Shirt' sale, a makeshift boutique for Catalonia's top urban designers to show off their design skills and ply their wares. The main inspiration comes from a local brewery, Mortiz, but don’t get any ideas... the only cervezas here will be the ones on the tees. For the real thing, head straight to Chic&Basic's in house restaurant and lounge, White Bar.
Changing Room’s sister event, Creative Weekend, kicks off in Madrid next Friday and lasts all weekend at Chic&basic Mayerling. Launched this past summer, the Mayerling is a stylish blend of history and design, the perfect venue to host such a fashionable event.
